I think combating food waste mainly has to do with raising awareness among people. I think everyone should do their bit. I don’t know if what we’re doing helps or not, but it’s a start.
What I really like about Rotterdam is that if you want to start something new, you will always find people who put their shoulders under it. It still has that can-do harbour mentality baked in.

Bringing people together is the most important thing for me. Step out of your bubble. When you are a student it is so easy to just stay in your life where you only meet other students.
As a child I used to play at the Community Center at the Kipstraat, where Groenten Zonder Grenzen now organises its dinners, and now I am there every week to provide food for people who need it.
