“GZG brings some positive energy. Not only does it stimulate sustainable and healthy living, it also promotes social interactions, inclusivity, and creativity”

‘I’ve been part of GZG since March 2020. I was introduced by a friend when I was looking for a possibility to make myself useful and meet some new people. I do different tasks every week, depending on what is needed, such as going to the market or cooking. Also, I’m in the instigators group where we try to organize GZG as well as possible. We try to keep GZG running as best as possible with the weekly organization of the dinners and everything involved. Also, we discuss the future steps and projects for GZG. I like to be both a regular volunteer and also be involved in the organization, future, and improvement of GZG.’

View on veganism

‘I am a flexible vegan, meaning that I do eat animal products and even meat sometimes. However, most of the time I cook vegetarian or vegan because I am convinced limiting our animal consumption is the only way to live/consume in a more sustainable way. Therefore I think it’s a good thing to promote veganism as much as possible but not dogmatically.’

GZG’s value

‘I see GZG as a positive initiative in a lot of ways. Not only does it stimulate sustainable and healthy living, it also promotes social interactions, inclusivity, and creativity. All in all, it brings some positive energy. I was born and raised in Rotterdam and I think Rotterdam still has some steps to make in terms of sustainability and creating a healthy living environment. I hope GZG can make a difference in people’s view towards food(waste) and healthy lifestyle.’
