“I think GZG shows people who are not familiar with veganism that it’s very easy and healthy”

‘I came in contact with veganism at work, since I’m a lifeguard at the beach in the summer and some of my coworkers are vegan. I also learnt about vegetarianism at school. I’m originally from Zeeland, the most beautiful province of the Netherlands! In Rotterdam, I really like the vegan community, because you can exchange so many recipes and tips and it’s amazing. I am currently studying Medicine but unfortunately, we don’t have many classes on health and food.

‘I found GzG through a post on Vegan Rotterdam to pick up leftover veggies and decided to join the volunteer team. This was around November 2019. I think GZG shows people who are not familiar with veganism that it’s very easy and healthy. Also, GzG shows that you can combine three of the best things: diminish food waste, help people who are in need, and also do it the most sustainable way.

The thing I liked the most about the cooking on Wednesday is the contact with the other volunteers and the people that came to eat what we cooked. It was so much fun! Luckily, we can now still come in contact with the other volunteers.

My favorite dish to eat is very difficult, it can vary every week… but I guess this week it would be a homemade lasagna, with homemade tomato sauce. My favorite dish to make is sushi, it’s so easy and very tasty.
